Our Story
Well it all began with our founder, Haile, an artist and herbalist whose journey into health and wellness began in a most unexpected way. Originally a music producer and designer, Haile’s life took a dramatic turn at the age of 20 after he experienced a seizure and had his appendix removed. This health scare inspired him to delve deep into the world of natural healing.
Despite doctors’ assurances that the appendix was unnecessary, Haile believed otherwise. His curiosity led him to discover that the appendix plays a role in producing good bacteria for the gut. This revelation was pivotal, especially since he experienced persistent bloating after his surgery, a symptom he connected to the loss of gut bacteria.
In the same year, Haile met Edgar Stewart, a 90-year-old Jamaican healer known as Doc. In Lauderhill, Florida, Doc taught Haile to identify and use local healing herbs and introduced him to farming. Doc trusted Haile enough to share his secret formula for a potent Roots Tonic he had developed over 40 years. Haile became passionate about the craft of brewing these tonics, which help balance gut bacteria.
Fueled by his newfound knowledge and spiritual insights, Haile authored Making Roots Wine and launched his first dietary supplement, “Roots.” Today, as the CEO of Sacred Life Products, Haile operates from the lush Blue Mountain range of Jamaica, where a diverse array of herbs thrive. While he continues to create music and art, his primary mission is to develop products that support holistic health and well-being.
